Dear HES Families:
Happy New Year and welcome back! I hope that each of you enjoyed your break and found time to relax with your family. We look forward to another exciting semester at HES bevause we know that HES is the happening place to be. Once again I encourage each of you to join the fun ad we cotinue our journey through the 2011-2012 school year. We have many exciting activites taking place this semester so be on the lookout for ways to be involved with your child.
As we are all aware, winter in our area can take on different forms. Should inclement weather of snow or ice cause school to be dismissed early or canceled, you will receive a telephone call from our One Call Now system. The information can also be obtained from the local TV and radio stations and on the McCracken County Public Schools web page - http://www.mccrackencountyschools.net
The safest way for your child to get home is the school bus. Our bus drivers are trained to handle inclement weather conditions. If you decide to pick your child up at school, please park in the side lot and enter the school by the preschool playground. This includes parents of children who normally stay for daycare; when school is closed because of inclement weather, daycare is also closed. Please have your
pick-up card or other identification with you. Staff members will verify ID inside the building and have your child brought to you. Our weather can change quickly...thank you in advance for your help!
Our goal this year is for each student to achieve a minimum of one year's growth in math and reading. The teachers, staff and parents of Heath Elementary School are the best. We want to continue to work closely with each family to ensure that 100% of students achieve this growth.

important information for dropping your children off at school
please leave your child buckled in a seat belt until it is time to get out of the car while in the drop-off line
1. You may drop your student off anytime between 8:10 and 8:20.
2. Pull up along the sidewalk between the entrance door and the preschool door.
- this will enable all students to be in the building before the bell rings
- please do not wait to pull up to the front spot
3. Please stop and have your student exit the vehicle.
- exit from back seat and side closest to the sidewalk so children never walk between cars
4. When pulling out after drop off, turn to the right and exit the same driveway that you entered.
- this ensures the other driveway is clear for bus traffic only
5. We will close the door for drop off entry at 8:20.
- if the cones are up and the gate is closed you will need to park and escort your child to the front main entrance
- do not enter the driveway area ~ this is for bus traffic only
